Zelda A. Oldenburg 80, died June 27, 2012 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury, VT after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born on September 4, 1931 in Bridgewater, VT the daughter of Evan and Ella Sawyer Hadley.
Zelda was well known for her Halloween fudge and the food she prepared at Jim and Zel's Corner Store. She loved to fish, read and play solitaire in her spare time. Above all, she was dedicated to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Jim, Sr. of Orwell, VT, their four children; Jane Miner of Shoreham, Jim Oldenburg, Jr. of Shoreham, Pete Oldenburg of Orwell, VT, and Mitch Oldenburg of Shoreham, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 6 siblings; June Waters, Bob Sawyer, Donald Sawyer, Jim Sawyer, Patty Hadley, and Sandy Lynds all of Bridgewater. She is pre-deceased by her parents, 3 brothers; Paul, Edmund and Richard Sawyer and 1 sister, Betty Lou Hadley.
A gathering to celebrate Zelda's life will be held on Saturday, July 14th beginning at 2:00 pm at the Grange in Bridgewater, VT. Please come dressed comfortably and share your favorite stories about Zelda. A private burial service will be held in the Baker Hill Cemetery in Bridgewater Center.
