Walter E. "Dutchie" Brehaut, 98, died Monday evening March 16, 2015 at the home of his daughter Ruth Weeks with his son Edwin and his wife Nancy and daughter by his side.

He was born on June 7, 1916 in Athol, MA the son of Edwin S. and Ellen (Conrad) Brehaut.

He married Helena Mosher on February 21, 1942.

Most of his life he lived in Woodstock, VT, moving to East Montpelier in 1988.

Dutchie attended school in Woodstock and worked on the farm for many years. He eventually went to work for the town of Woodstock and was a well know grader operator for 25 years.

He was a past member of the St. James Episcopal Church. He was passionate about working on lawn mowers and going to garage and lawn sales. His greatest love was for his family.

He is survived by his son Edwin and his wife Nancy Brehaut of Georgia, VT, his daughter Ruth Weeks of East Montpelier, VT, 5 grandchildren; Julie and her husband Dwight Brown, Allen Brehaut and his companion Lori Gauthier, Tanya and her husband Dan Moore all from Georgia, VT Walter Weeks and his companion Ashley Dufresne and Rich Weeks of Barre, VT, his 6 great grandchildren; Krys and Justin Brown, Cora Marie Brehaut, Zachany, Sawyer, and Payton Moore.

He is pre deceased by his wife Helena Brehaut, his parents and two brothers Harold and Wesley and a son-in-law Richard J. Weeks.

A graveside service will be held in the Riverside Cemetery in Woodstock, VT on Saturday may 30, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104
