Vincent Weaver Jones, 92, died Friday evening November 27th at his home in No. Pomfret, VT surrounded by his family.
Mr. Jones was born on May 13, 1923 and was raised in West Hartford, CT, the son of Vincent Weaver and Elizabeth (Post) Jones.
Mr. Jones graduated from The Choate School, Harvard College (Class of 1945), and the Harvard Business School (MBA 1953). He served in the US Navy in the Pacific during World War II on the destroyer escort USS Mitchell. He earned 9 battle stars, including stars for the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After the war he completed his higher education, pursued his career as a financial advisor, and married and raised his family in Wenham, MA. Vince retired to No. Pomfret VT upon marrying Cindy Fisher in 1994.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Cindy Fisher Jones of Maple Ave. Farm in No. Pomfret, VT; his children, Vincent W. Jones of Waltham, MA, Anna P. Jones of Denver, CO, George R. A. Jones of New Haven, CT, and Christopher B. Jones of Wenham, MA, 5 grandchildren, and his brother David Post Jones of Fairfield, CT. He is pre-deceased by his first wife Marie Prince Jones, and his beloved sister Elizabeth (Betsey) Jones Houghton.
Burial will take place in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, CT. A memorial service will be held on December 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the No. Pomfret Congregational Church.
