Verona E. Hopping, 99, died Friday January 8, 2016 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Verona was born on December 15, 1916 in South Pomfret, Vermont the daughter of Edwin J. and Flora (Bassett) Wood.
Spending much of her life in South Pomret, Wilder, and Woodstock Verona worked as an operator for the Woodstock Phone Company. She later moved to Florida for about 10 years and then to Grand Junction, Colorado before returning to Woodstock, Vermont and living at the Homestead and Meterns House since 2001.
Verona is predeceased by her parents, her first husband Daniel L. Ahern, her second husband Raymond Hopping, her six siblings; Ehrich Wood, Gerald Wood, Maurice Wood, Heilda Wood Hoyt, Lena Wood Luce, and Ethel Wood Ambrose. She is survived locally by Nieces and Nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and had a special fondness for her great great nephew Tyler Worth and great greart niece Jasmin Lantz.
A private burial service will be held by the family in the spring.
