Sylvia A. Makkonen, 77, died at her home in Bridgewater Corners Wednesday evening March 14, 2018.
She was born on May 19, 1940 in Pigeon Cove, Massachusetts the daughter of John Jacob and Iiri Vera (Knuttennen) Korpi.
She is survived by her 2 children; Iiri Makkonen of Reading, VT and Annemarie Fritz of Rockport, MA, 2 step children; Veronica Makkonen of Gloucester, MA, and Niilo Makkonen, III of Gloucester, MA, 5 grandchildren; Ginger, Emily, Jack, Kaelee, and Liam, 2 brothers; John and Onni Korpi and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Sylvia is pre deceased by her husband Niilo J. "Flipper" Makkonen, Jr., a brother George, and twin grandchildren.
Sylvia worked as a clerk at the Bridgewater Corners Post Office for over 20 years.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday March 19th from 5 to 7 pm at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock, VT.
Those wishing may make memorial donations to the charity of their choice.
