Sue Holmes Hottenstein, 87, died on December 25, 2022 at the Mertens House in Woodstock, Vermont.
Sue was born on January 12, 1935 in Philadelphia PA the daughter of Anne (Massey) Holmes and Charles Wendell Holmes.
Sue graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1952 and then from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA in 1956. On December 26, 1955 she married Peter D. Hottenstein.
Sue worked as a physical education teacher and coach in the West Chester School District in Pennsylvania until her retirement. She moved to Vermont where she developed many lasting friendships. She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with friends and family. She was a devoted Christian and dedicated herself to volunteer work in her church and community.
Sue is survived by her three children and their spouses: Peter and Theresa of Midland TX, Joyce and Tom of Rutland VT, and Jean and Rendall of Hartland VT, her 5 grandchildren; David, Jessica, Katie, Riley and Parker and 4 great grandchildren; Nathan, Penny, Ben and Alex.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, sister Helen and husband Peter.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 1, 2023 at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock in Woodstock Vermont at 11:00am.
Memorial donations may be made to the Homestead, Mertens House or The First Congregational Church of Woodstock VT.
