Steven C. Frost passed away on Tuesday September 8th, 2026 at his home after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Steve was born on June 17th, 1955 in Windsor, VT, the youngest child of Wesley and Florence (Earle) Frost. He always prided himself on being a true Vermonter, not one of those “across the river babies”.

He spent his childhood in Hale Hollow also known as Earleville on the border of Bridgewater and Plymouth VT. The valley was filled with aunts, uncles, and cousins. He spent many hours helping his uncle on the farm. He spent countless hours playing and on adventures with his cousins. Much mischief was likely involved.

At 14 Steve started working for Steve Tarleton Sr. doing lawncare. As soon as he could legally drive, he started driving dump truck weekends, after school, and during summer vacation. He graduated from Woodstock Union High School in 1973 and began working full time driving dump trucks. He spoke often about the hundreds of loads of gravel he hauled to rebuild after the flood in 1973.

After working for Steve, he went to work for Vermont Log Buildings in Hartland VT. He worked for VLB and its sister company Timber Peg in Claremont for 45 years.

He married Jane Maxham on December 1st 2018 after many years together. They built a wonderful life together and Steve formed a very close bond with his stepson Patrick Leonard, very soon after Patrick’s eventual wife Allison, in 2009 & 2011, Patrick and Allison welcomed grandchildren Nolan and Jordyn. There were many adventures, family dinners, and vacations with the six of them.Steve loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, keeping his lawn and gardens immaculate, or just sitting around a campfire. He was also a diehard NY Giants fan, and enjoyed auto racing and in later years Yankees baseball.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, a brother Richard and sister-in-law Linda.He is survived by his wife Jane Maxham, his Brother Wesley D. Frost (Martha) of , a sister Lois Frost Taylor , stepson Patrick Leonard (Allison) of Hartland VT, his grandchildren Nolan and Jordyn Leonard of Hartland VT.

He is also survived by his stepchildren from his former marriage Jason Potwin (Melanie) , Heidi Ashe, five grandchildren and a great grandchild. He cherished being there for Jason and Heidi’s childhood and they remained close in his heart.Many nieces and nephews including a nephew, Brennan Jillson (Danielle) of Bridgewater, vT , who was more like a son to him and last but not least his beloved cat Zeke.

Steve’s favorite season was fall when the skies are deep blue, the grass has its fall scent, and the air is crisp. Think of him.

A service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Sunday September 27th at the Unitarian-Universalist Chapel in Woodstock VT beginning at 2:00pm followed by a reception.
