Stella Jaycox Barron, 103, died Tuesday afternoon at the Mt Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, Vermont.

Stella was born on March 19, 1911 in Woodstock, Vermont the daughter of William B. and Vernie L. (Flint) Jaycox in the home her father had built.

Stella's family moved to Barnard, VT when she was 1 1/2 , she attended the village school and is the last surviving member of the Woodstock High School class of 1928. Following high school she moved briefly to Athol, MA to work and be near her cousin. Stella returned to Woodstock and on October 15, 1932 she married Gordon J. Barron moving to South Pomfret for the next 55 years.

Stella did domestic work including cooking for functions for a number of Woodstock families including; the Kidder, Lightborn, Martin, and Rockerfeller families. She and her husband Gordon were members of the Sugarhouse swingers, together they spent 26 winters in Tavares, Florida, Gordon died July 30, 1995.. Stella moved to live with her son Reginald in 1998 and became a resident of the Homestead in 2003.

Stella was a member of the PTA, became a member of the Teago Hustlers in 1935, holding offices in both organizations. She was also a member of the West Woodstock Women's Club for 65 years and a member of the Travares (FL) Home Dem. Stella enjoyed her family and friends as well as arts and crafts. She was well known for her quilting, crocheting, and knitting.

She is survived by her son Donald and his wife Pat of Northport, FL, her son Reginald and his wife Janice of Woodstock, VT, 2 granddaughters; Dawn B. Turnbull of Woodstock, VT and Elizabeth Oakes and her husband Frankie of Hartland, VT, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a sister in law Pauline Maynes of Windsor, VT, a cousin Barbara Miller of Prescott, AZ, and many nieces and nephews. She is pre deceased by her parents, her husband, a brother Norman Jaycox, and a sister Christine Jackson.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday January 11th at 2:pm at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock, VT. Burial will be held privately in the spring in the Riverside Cemetery in Woodstock, VT.
