Stanley R. Pearson, 83, of Castleton, VT, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024, at Rutland Regional Hospital. Stanley was born on January 13, 1941 in Somerville, MA the son of Melvin and Dorothy (Rigg) Pearson.

Stanley grew up in Somerville and Malden, MA and in his senior year of high school joined the US Army and served in Korea. After his time in the service, Stanley settled in Vermont, the state he would call home for the rest of his years. It was here he met the love of his life, Janet Miner, and they married on April 24, 1971.

Stanley worked at the Bridgewater Woolen Mill and then as an electrician in the Killington area before moving to Castleton in 1984 and working the next 18 years at General Electric, from which he retired.

He shared a profound love for animals with Janet, caring for horses, dogs, and other pets, notably raising several Huskies together. Stanley treated each being as the cherished member of their family that they were.

Survived by his wife Janet, daughter Delia Ellen Vanek, granddaughter Willow Gaia, 3 nephews, 3 nieces, brother-in-law James, and many cousins, Stanley was predeceased by grandson Frank Vanek, brother Kenneth, and sister Elaine.

A funeral service will be held at Cabot's Funeral Home on Saturday February 24th at 1:00pm, friends may call on the family beginning at 12:00pm and a reception will follow the service at the Grange Hall in Bridgewater Corners. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorial donations may do so to the Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763 or the Lucy MacKenzie Humane Society, P.O. Box 702, Brownsville, VT 05037.
