Woodstock, Vermont

Sharon Irene Schellong was a loving mother, caring wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the age of 85.

Sharon was born to Albert and Loretta Doyle on January 29, 1936, in Mishawaka, Indiana.  After graduating from Mishawaka High School, she attended Saint Mary's College at the University of Notre Dame, where she met her future husband, William Schellong. They were married in September 1956 and, together, they had five children: Bill, Jr., Carl, Tracey, Tammy, and Steve. In 1966, the family moved from Stony Brook, NY to a new life on their farm on Allen Hill Road in North Pomfret, VT.

Sharon's first love was children, and she devoted all her time to raising her five kids on the farm. She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and friends, sharing her favorite recipes, traveling, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. She also volunteered at Dartmouth Hitchcock and was a North Pomfret correspondent for the Vermont Standard.  She is predeceased by her husband, her parents, a sister, and a brother. She is survived by her five children, seven grandchildren, and a sister. Sharon leaves behind many dear friends at the Woodstock Terrace where she resided for the last seven years of her life.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on Friday, August 13, 2021, at the Our Lady of the Snows church in Woodstock, VT. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetes Association or National Multiple Sclerosis Society on her behalf.
