Rosemarie Buswell, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Jack Byrne Hospice Center in Hanover. A daughter of Genevieve Williams, Rose was born on February 5, 1942 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

An embodiment of her given name, Rose was a lifelong gardener and known for her love of horticulture, appreciation of her environment and known for her beautiful gardens. She was a Vermont Master Gardener and was responsible for the rehabilitation of the Carrie Brown Garden at the Calvin Coolidge homestead in Plymouth, Vermont. Rose was forever planting, planning and appreciating the natural beauty of her world.

Rose was an accomplished genealogist who assisted family and friends in tracing their roots. She took great joy in the pursuit of family history, and embraced the personal stories and struggles of her family's ancestors who founded this great nation. A member of The General Society of Mayflower Descendants, Rose was a descendant of Francis Cooke, one of the signers of the Mayflower Compact.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Allen Wallace Buswell, Jr., two daughters; Betsy Vitton (Michael) and Becky Stroud (John) as well as five cherished grandchildren; Lakin Vitton, Olivia Vitton, Catherine Vitton, Hannah Stroud and John Bowman Stroud. Affectionately known as GT (Grandma Trouble) to her grandchildren, GT and Poppy shared perfect attendance at Grandparent's Day, recitals, regattas, soccer and field hockey games and birthdays. She made countless pies and baked goodies with them, and was famous for baking blueberry pies on the grill when the power was lost during various hurricanes. She was an early fan of American Girl Dolls which she lavished on her grand daughters. She will be profoundly missed by her adoring family.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Buswell and predeceased by her sister Mary and brother Charles.
