Robert M. Rand, Jr. died early Monday morning January 29, 2018 at Barre Gardens in Barre, Vermont.
Robert was born on March 29, 1952 in Hanover, New Hampshire the son of Robert, Sr. and Eleanor (Burdon) Rand.
A graduate of Hanover High School Robert served in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1978. He returned home and in 1979 and married Marlene Maude VanAlstyne.
Robert cooked at the Sheraton, now the Fireside Hotel in West Lebanon, NH for a few years until going to work for the Hanover (NH) Inn for over 30 years, retiring in 2009.
Robert enjoyed playing golf and watching a number of sports on TV. He was a member of the Ora E. Paul Post #24 American Legion in Woodstock, VT and the Broad Brook Volunteer Fire Department.
Robert is survived by his wife Marlene of East Barnard, VT, his mother Eleanor Rand, sister Dorothy Rand Jeffrey (husband Joseph), and niece Caitlin Jeffrey all of Indianapolis, Indiana.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 28th at 1:00pm in the East Barnard Community Church followed by burial in the East Barnard Cemetery.
