Robert Paterson of Reading , VT died peacefully at home in his beloved house on the hilltop on December 16,2015
Robbie was born in Polmont Scotland. In 1946 he moved to Center Pomfret Vt. with his parents. He attended grade school at the Pomfret schools and secondary school at The Pomfret School in Pomfret,Ct. After graduating he completed a three year apprenticeship as a Electronics Technician at Pratt and Whitney in Hartford,Ct.then continued working there. He married Chris Pumpelly of Pomfret in 1959.
In 1963 Robbie moved back to Vermont with his family to become a partner at Baker and Heijn, a specialty foreign auto repair shop in WRJ,Vt. He later worked at Gerrish Motors and Alsup racing in Woodstock,Vt. Robbie married Abbie Barker in 1981. Robbie then started PCCW Racing Engines where he and his employees provided machine work and championship caliber racing engines to the racing community of New England. He was honored more than once for the Clevite engine builder of the year for the Busch North series.
He is survived by his wife Abbie Paterson, daughters Julie Hazen and Lisa Paterson of Hartland, Vt, and Anne Barker of Edinburgh, Scotland. There will be no serviced. Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the Lucy Mackenzie Humane society
