Richard "Dick" William Levasseur, 67, died on October 26, 2011, in Granite Falls, NC. He and Karen were staying at their daughter's home on their way to Florida for the winter.
Dick was born on November 21, 1943, in Manchester, New Hampshire, the son of Arthur and Irene (Collins) Levasseur.
Dick graduated from Bishop Bradley High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. On October 28, 1967, he married Karen Clough in Manchester, NH.
Dick moved to Barnard, Vermont, and in 1976 began a long career managing the P & C (later the Grand Union) store in Woodstock, Vermont. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Woodstock and the VFW in White River Jct. Dick and Karen loved to travel, dance, and ride motorcycles.
Dick is survived by his wife, Karen, of Barnard; his daughter Breena Gilland, son-in-law Daniel Gilland, and two grandchildren, Joshua and Devon, of Granite Falls, NC; a sister Jeanne Houle and brother George Levasseur both of Manchester, NH.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening Nov. 2nd from 6 to 8 pm at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock, VT. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday Nov. 3rd at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Woodstock, VT. Burial with military honors will follow in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, VT.
