Richard "Duffer" T. Cole, 66, passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on Monday Sept. 20, 2021. He was born on July 26, 1955 at APD in Lebanon, NH to Thomas D. and Mildred M. (Stanley) Cole.
Duffer was a veteran, serving in the Army. He graduated from Woodstock Union High School in 1973. For most of his career he was a long-haul truck driver, he also worked at Ottauquechee Well Drilling for a number of years as well as for the towns of Pomfret and Woodstock. Most recently he was self employed as your well known scrap metal collector (known to his family as "the Man of Steel"). But Duffer was so much more to so many, always lending a hand when it was needed. Rough on the outside but inside a heart of gold.
Duffer grew up and lived in Pomfret, VT before settling in Woodstock with his family. His family was his world ( children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews), known by some as Brat Sensei, and adored by them all.
His hobbies were hunting, fishing, going to car races and early morning coffee at "The Shop" with his good buddies.
Duffer is survived by his wife of 40 years Sue Ellen (Johnson) Cole, his son Edwin "Edge" Cole (Ashley), his daughter Annie L LaBombard (Eric), his mother Mildred M. Cole, 5 grandchildren; Noah, Garrett, Chloe, Morgan, and Alex a , 3 brothers; Byron B. Cole (Beth), Milan "Pete" Cole (Bea), William T. Cole, and his sister Sheila M. Birmingham. He is pre deceased by his father Thomas D. Cole and a brother Michael L. Cole.
In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Norris Cotten Cancer Center, One Medical Drive, Lebanon, NH 03766.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday September 26 th at 2:00pm in the Hewittville Cemetery in North Pomfret, Vermont
