Raymond Roberts of South Pomfret, Vermont and Wauchula, Florida passed away on November 18, 2018 in Florida.
He was born October 12, 1935, the eldest son of Stanley and Doris [Clifford] Roberts.
He attended Hartford Village School and graduated from Hartford High School in 1953. From there he went to the Vermont State School of Agriculture in Randolph Center receiving a degree in Animal Science.
He joined the local Grange in April of 1953. After taking the lower degrees during the summer, he joined the National Grange in the fall of 1953, when it was held in Burlington, Vermont. Over the years he has been very active in the Grange, holding many different offices.
In 1957 he married Doris Potter, daughter of Allan and Ethel [Luce] Potter. Over the years they enjoyed camping and the many trips they were able to take with their motorhome.
He worked on the Wild Apple Farm in South Pomfret for several years before moving to the Billings Farm, in Woodstock. He worked at Billings Farm for 39 years and retired from there in December of 1997.
He and his wife have two children, a daughter, June and a son, Anthony.
He is survived by his wife Doris, daughter June Ward and husband Kenneth of Castleton, VT., son Anthony Roberts of Weathersfield, VT, six grandchildren: Charles Ward, Timothy Roberts, Matthew Roberts, Hillary Ward, Sarah Roberts, and Molly Ward four great grandchildren: Emma, Marshall, Carter, and Weston. He is also survived by a sister, Martha Boucher of White River Jct, VT and a sister-in-law, Madine Ballentine of Watertown, MA. plus nieces, nephews, and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Stanley and his sister-in-law Sheila, his brother-in-law Joseph, and several cousins.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday December 2 nd from 2pm to 4pm with a G range service at 3:30pm at the Cabot Funeral Home, 32 Rose Hill, Woodstock, VT.
