Phyllis J. Hickory, 85, a long time resident of Bridgewater, Vermont died Saturday evening October 27th at the Mertens House in Woodstock, Vermont.

Phyllis was born on September 2, 1927 in Chittenden, Vermont the daughter of John B. and Edith M. (Manning) Howard.

Phyllis was a long time member of the Bridgewater Grange and the Bridgewater Congregational Church. She was the honorary grandmother for the Grasshopper Preschool. She loved her many grandchildren and enjoyed cooking.

Phyllis will be missed on Halloween for her popcorn balls and fudge.

She is survived by her son Jerry Hickory and wife Judy, her daughters Darlene Griggs and husband Robert, Audrey Birney and husband George, sons Robert Hickory and wife Linda, Jay Hickory and wife Mona, 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Leslie, Joseph and Stanley Howard, a sister Anna Mae Bellimer and many nieces and nephews. She is pre deceased by her parents, her husband Harold G. Hickory, 3 brothers, Henry, Charles, and Clarence Howard, and a sister Alice Cram.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 pm both at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock. Burial will follow in the Prosper Cemetery in Woodstock, Vermont.
