Brock
December 8, 1927 – February 19, 2019
Peter R. "Pete" Brock, 91, died on Tuesday February 19 th after a short illness at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital near his home in Woodstock, VT. Pete is survived by his sister Jean Wallace, his wife Jennifer (Mertens), their six kids, 19 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids, many of whom were at his side to the end.
Peter was born in East Orange New Jersey, earned a degree in chemical engineering at Princeton University and worked for E. I. Du Pont de Nemours for 32 years in several product areas involved in manufacturing, research and development, personnel and pension fund management. He concluded his Du Pont career in International Finance spending 4 years in Belgium and 7 in the UK as Finance Director for Du Pont subsidiaries in Benelux and the UK. Peter subsequently formed and managed a small medical products business and served on several corporate and non-profit boards. In 2012 he and Jen moved to Woodstock, Vermont joining the generations of his large extended family already settled in the area. Peter loved to work outdoors. He was an avid sailor, farmer, inventor and meticulous solver of technical challenges great and small. He loved to travel and regularly marshaled his massive brood on adventurous trips around the globe. In his later years he was an equally ambitious philanthropist, funding, guiding and volunteering side by side with numerous community organizations.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM May 19 th , 2019 at Saint James Episcopal Church, Woodstock, VT. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Woodstock Community Trust, PO Box 60, Woodstock, VT 05091
