Percy Todd Summarsell, 89, died peacefully at his home in Windsor, Vermont, on Friday, January 3rd.
Percy was born July 10th, 1930, in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, the son of Alfred J. and Margret (
Todd
) Summarsell of Barnard, Vermont.
Percy attended elementary and junior high school in Barnard, VT. He then attended trade school in St. Johnsbury, VT.
Percy served with the Army 83rd Engineer Construction division in France and Germany from 1952 to 1954. After his discharge from the service, he met his wife of 64 years, Janet Brown, of Bridgewater VT, and they were married on July 5th, 1955. Together Percy and Janet began to raise their family in Bridgewater until they built a new home in Windsor, VT. Percy started working at Cone Blanchard Machine Co. in Windsor VT as a machine painter, before his military service. After his service with the military, he returned there and completed 41 years of employment until his retirement in 1991.
Percy enjoyed spending time in the woods, gardening, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and deer hunting with his family members.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Janet, who passed away on August 8
th
, 2019; his brothers Lyndall, Wayne, Richard, and his sister Nancy Tuckerman.
Percy is survived by his sister Erma Kucewicz of Yonkers NY, his son Bruce Percy Summarsell and his wife Theresa of Hartland VT. and his daughter Bonnie Lynn LaPlante and her husband Joseph of Claremont NH. His grandchildren also survive him; Amber, Nicholas, Jason, Jeremy, and Rachael, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 12th, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by a service at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock, VT. A graveside service will be held at a later date to be determined.
