Norma Sawyer, 84, died Thursday morning May 16th from a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 4 in Woodstock, Vermont.

Norma was born May 20, 1928 to Cecil and Helen Howe Longe. She was raised in Woodstock and Pomfret.

She married Edmund Sawyer on April 30, 1948. They lived all their lives in Bridgewater.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Windsor Unit 25 in Windsor, VT. She enjoyed the members of the post who made her feel at home. She especially loved being with "her five wonderful children". Sandra Brown and Lance Sawyer of Hartland, Deb Fish, Don Sawyer and Deanne Carvalho of Bridgewater. Her grandchildren; Melissa Walker, Mitchell and Stephen Tarleton, Louis and Holly Phelps, Elizabeth Fish, Chris and Mandy Mangan, Robin Sawyer, Noah and Summer Carvalho, her eight great grandchildren and her two great great grand daughters. Her special son in law Ed Brown.

She is also survived by two sisters, Sue Esty and Lois Rice of Woodstock, one brother Paul Towne of Tucson, AZ. Many nieces and nephews.

She was pre deceased by her husband of 67 years, brothers, Lee E. Towne, Jr. Charles Longe and her sister Mary Longe Earle.

Norma basically loved life. She grew a large garden, mowed her lawns, fed the birds and bears, and her special chipmunk "Lucky". She loved playing double king pede, kayaking, fishing, but her passion was dancing.

A memorial service will be held on Monday May 20th at the Bridgewater Congregational Church at 1:00 pm.
