Myrtle F. Glidden, 93, died Saturday February 4, 2012 at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Vermont.
Myrtle was born on October 9, 1918 in Bridgewater, Vermont, the daughter of Rollo C. and Angie (Archer) Fairbanks.
Myrtle worked at a young age as in woolen mills in Cavendish and Proctorsville, VT.
She then spent many years working at Taylor Ties and Flamstead Ties in Chester and retired from General Electric in Rutland. She married Ronald Glidden Sr on Oct 15, 1936.
Myrtle enjoyed sewing, quilting, visiting family and friends and spending time with children. She was a member of the Myrtle Rebecca Lodge in Proctorsville.
She is survived by two sons; David and wife Jean of Ludlow, VT and William of Proctorsville, VT, 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a brother, Neil Fairbanks of Ludlow, VT, daughter in law Wilma Glidden of Proctorsville, VT, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by husband Ronald Sr., and son Ronald Jr., three brothers; Clyde, Roger and Orlo, 3 sisters; Ada Ranny, Della Fairbanks and Minnie Worth.
Services are being planned for later this spring. Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Gethsemane Episcopal Church in Proctorsville, VT
A celebration of Myrtle's life will be held at the Proctorsville Fire Department on Saturday, February 11th from 2 to 4 pm.
