Mildred Williams Ambrose, 83, died Friday Afternoon September 5, 2014 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH
Mildred was born April 16, 1931 in Weathersfield, Vermont the daughter of Clifford and Elinor (Atwood) Williams. She grew up on the farm in Barnard Vt,
Mildred was educated in the Woodstock Schools. She married Lawrence "Larry" Ambrose on August 8, 1948. Larry predeceased her July 20, 1993. Mildred and Larry lived in Milwaukee and in Delaware until moving back to Woodstock in 1952. They moved to Perkinsville in the late 50's and in 1969 moved to Springfield, Vt. They enjoyed winters in Davenport Fl. After Larry passed away, Mildred lived in Davenport FL for a few years, then eventually moved back to Springfield Vt.
Mildred was employed for many years at Springfield Hospital as a Nurses Aid, working the third shift. She was a member of the Springfield Women of the Moose # 1085 and in 1986 became a College of Regents for the Women of the Moose.
Mildred enjoyed knitting and playing solitaire on the computer. She loved family together times and loved her children and grandchildren deeply. She will be greatly missed by all, especially her companion of 12 years, Jay Jay, her dog.
She is survived by her six children; Irene Ambrose of Haines City, FL; Gail Corliss and husband Ron of Perkinsville, Margaret Ambrose of Chester, Laurie Clough and husband Brian, Steve Ambrose and wife Pam, and Paul Ambrose all of Springfield, VT; 12 grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Sept. 11th from 1 to 3 pm at the Davis Chapel in Springfield, Vermont followed by a gathering at the Springfield Moose Lodge from 3 to 5 pm. A graveside service will be held in the Prosper Cemetery in Woodstock, Vermont on Friday Sept. 12th at 1:00 pm
