Obituary

Marylou Ewasko
Loving Grandmother, Mother, and Wife passed away on January 7, 2024.

Marylou was born January 29th, 1957 to Robert and Shirley Slate. She was
raised in Watertown, NY along with her three siblings: her sister Kathy,
and two brothers, Bobby and Jimmy. Marylou was a dedicated local volunteer,
who worked for a decade and a half as a theatre costume and set designer
for the Yoh Theatre Players, the Woolhouse Players, and Pentangle Arts. She
was also a folk artist who worked in wood carvings and flat art, and who
will always be remembered for the horse painted on barn door, as well as
her seasonal art installations which flew over the brook and field of her
home. She was known for her incredible ability to bestow her work with a
magical presence-- from enormous theatre set constructions, to tiny
hand-carved chickadees perched atop rakes, everything she did glowed with
an air of life, hope, and a love for nature. Marylou was a known caretaker
and protector of children-- she took every child, K-12, under her wing,
making sure they felt safe, special, and well-loved. She also cared deeply
for all animals, and grew up raising horses and border collies, as well as
rescuing animals both wild and domestic. She believed in hope, and in the
goodness of life, and raised all of her "babies"--whether people or
animals--with the same tenderness and affection. Marylou is survived by her
brother Jimmy, her husband Cameron, her four children Heather, Carrie,
Andrea, Cameron James, and her four grandchildren, Hannah, Annie, Allison,
and Daisy. Funeral services will be arranged privately with the Cabot
Funeral Home in Woodstock, VT. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable
donations to the Ottauquechee Health Foundation, P.O. Box 784, Woodstock, VT 05091 or The HUB, P O. Box 404, Woodstock, Vermont or the American Liver Foundation.
