Reading, Vermont. Mary Senna Singleton, 91, of Reading, Vermont, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning April 21, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and friends of Silver Maples Residencial Care Home in Claremont, N.H. Mary was born in St. Albans,Vermont to Charles and Ellen Kelly Senna. The family purchased a dairy farm on Tarbell Hill in Reading. Mary graduated from Springfield High School, class of 1942. She later met and married Harold "Bud" Singleton, her husband of 71 years. Mary and Bud owned and operated the Singletons Store in Reading for 27 years. Together they had six loving children, made many friends and became prominent business people in the area. They went on to build another successful store in Proctorsville and were honored in 1993 as Vermont Retail Grocers of the year. Bud and Mary retired in 1999 and enjoyed happy days at their home on "Oak Ridge " in Reading. Mary will be remembered for her generosity, strong work ethic and willingness to share her wisdom and encouragement. Her beautiful welcoming smile reflected the kindness in her heart. Our great loss is heavens gain. Mary was predeceased by her son Charles and her husband Bud. She leaves her five children, Joan Racicotand her husband Charles, Robert and his wife Debbie, Tom and his wife Linn, and twin sons John and Jerry. Seven loving grandchildren, , Lisa Schmidt, Shon Racicot, Ian and Danielle Singleton, Jessica Hathorn, Daniel and Isabella Singleton. Eight very special greatgrand children, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon April 26 from 2-5pm at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday April 27th at 11:00 am at Holy Name of Mary Church, Proctorsville, Vermont.
