Mary Williams Sawyer, 89, died Thursday night April 28, 2011 at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct., Vermont.

Mary was born on August 13, 1921 in Montpelier, Vermont. She graduated from Woodstock High School. On June 28, 1946 she married Richard Evan Sawyer who pre deceased her on October 25, 1998.

Mary worked for the Goodyear Tire Company in Windsor, Vermont for 25 years. She was a long time member of the Bridgewater Congregational Church and consistently help with numerous community activities. Mary's greatest joy was being a being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, which she did with much love. She also had a great love for animals, especially her cats.

Mary is survived by her 4 children; Barbara Templeton of Bridgewater, VT, Nancy Sailer of Plymouth, VT, Tim Sawyer of Pawley's Island, SC, and Kimberly Christiansen of Fredericksburg, VA, 8 Grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she is pre deceased by 2 sons William and Thomas Sawyer and 2 brothers Frank and Ted Williams.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Bridgewater Congregational Church in Bridgewater, VT, Rev. Beverly Anderson, pastor will officiate. Burial will be held privately at the Plymouth Notch Cemetery in Plymouth, VT.
