Peacefully, M. Agatha (Aggie) Hennessy passed away at her Quechee, Vermont, home on August 11, 2014, surrounded physically and spiritually by her family. Aggie spent her last days facing a view of the vast peace and beauty of her much beloved Vermont.
The daughter of John J and Sarah Ann (North) Williams she was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 29, 1922. Aggie was the oldest of 4 followed by Delores (spouse Bill) Bentz; Jack (spouse Ann) Williams and Francis (spouse Booty) Williams.
"Miss Aggie," as her father called her used to watch her house painter father mix his paints and work with turpentine. The smell of turpentine was always special to her and her love of colors started while watching her father.
Aggie was married to John (Jack) F Hennessy on October 2, 1944, and shared a deep love grounded in faith. Upon the completion of his medical degree Dr & Mrs Hennessy traveled to post World War II France to fulfill Jack's military medical duty.
An artist by birth, inclination and attitude her passion for art and appreciation of music expanded in Europe. Aggie was a fearless supporter of her husband and an optimist in the recovery of war-torn Europe. She attended fashion shows in Paris in 1946 and then produced handmade reproductions of haute couture. Aggie was housed with her military husband on the grounds of Versailles and shared her impressions through her oil paintings and love of art with all. Her crisp, precise and sheer appreciation of historical and living monuments like Mount St Michael, Versailles and the Louvre inspired her story telling.
Aggie and Jack's family grew to a full household of six children John (Jack), Cathleen, Barbara, Paul, David and Shawn. Aggie and Jack provided an inclusive, loving and open home to all friends. Aggie's intense intellectual curiosity and creativity provided thoughtful and loving guidance for their children through their schooling and successful careers. When she became a Grandmother known as Mimi by many, her love meant her door was always open to you.
Aggie's life took her from Baltimore to France to New Jersey and finally to her beloved Vermont. Aggie was an active participant in many of Quechee Lakes committees and a very devoted member of the Quechee art group. A prolific painter, she had 6 watercolor entries in the 2014 Quechee Art Exhibit at Marshland Farms. A current, unfinished water color sits by her painting chair in her home.
Aggie's (Mimi's) surviving family of 6 children, spouses, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren will miss her quick wit, uncompromising honesty, provocative ideas on religion, national politics, international affairs and the stock market. Most of all we will miss her gentle touch and deep, genuine love. We take solace in her joining her beloved Jack who passed in 1991.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning Aug. 16th at 9:am at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Woodstock. Burial will follow in the Hill Top Cemetery in Quechee, Vermont.
