Karen "KK" Bradley Lewis, 72, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2020 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Karen was born in Hanover, NH on May 27, 1947 the daughter of Thomas Henry and Norma Gray (Hill) Bradley.
Karen grew in Woodstock with the Maple Street Gang, a street that at one time had 58 children. She was very active and athletic and loved any sport with a ball. In the 1950's, that meant she had to play ball with the boys of the neighborhood. Later, in high school, she lettered on both the basketball and softball teams. Great training from the Maple Street Gang!
She graduated from Woodstock Union High School in 1965 and began a career as a bookkeeper working for Dartmouth Skis, then Sunoco and Butch Sutherland in Woodstock, then for the Montague Golf Course in Randolph, and later for First Impressions. Karen continued her active sports life and while working at the Montague Club in her 30's she developed a passion for golf that eventually lead her to being ranked #5 as a 50 year old among women golfers in Vermont. She also won a number of club championships at Montague. Though Golf was a big part of Karens life nothing made her smile more than time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Karen was an active member of the Vermont State Women's Golf Association, the hole in one club, the Elder William Brewster Society, Mayflower Descendants, and the Woodstock History Center. She was forever interested in g ene a logy and had great knowledge of her ancestors and the importance of history.
Karen is survived by her mother Norma, her husband of 53 years James L. Lewis, her son James L. Lewis, Jr., her daughter Kristine (Paul G.) Urban, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, her siblings; Barbara (Philip) Frizzell, Robert (Michelle) Bradley, Steven (Nancy) Bradley, Jayne (Ray) Straight, and many nieces nephews and cousins. She is pre deceased by her father.
Friends and family are invited to gather and remember Karen from 3pm to 5pm at the Thompson Senior Center on Saturday January 25 th . Burial will take place in the Vermont Veteran Cemetery in Randolph Center at a later date to be announced.
