June Marble Vydra 85, a long-time resident of Woodstock, Vermont passed away on September 16, 2018 after a long illness.
June was the daughter of the late John Putnam Marble and Miriam Cobb Marble of Woodstock. June was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on June 16, 1933. She was educated at Abbot Academy, Andover, Massachusetts, and the University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont. She also received her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from New York University, New York City. She married Anthony Ladislav Vydra in 1956.
Following her early years of single motherhood, June pursued a career as a physical therapist in the New Jersey-New York-Connecticut region focusing on the rehabilitation of patients with neurological disease. In 1972, she returned to her childhood home, Westbrook Farm, in West Woodstock and became a volunteer with the Vermont Institute of Natural Science ("VINS") and actively participated in ornithological research and data collection on behalf of VINS, the National Audubon Society, and other recognized programs including Cornell University's and the University of New Hampshire's Shoals Marine Laboratory. June took her love of learning to Lebanon College where she served as its accountant until her retirement.
June is survived by her son, Edward Marble Vydra and his wife, Joanna May Stimpson of Weston and West Falmouth, Massachusetts, and their children, Welles Edward Sutton Vydra of Boston, Massachusetts, Gardner Stimpson Vydra of London, United Kingdom, and Charlotte Williams Vydra of Brookline, Massachusetts.
Her family will gather for a private burial and celebration of her life in Woodstock. Family, friends and colleagues are encouraged to make donations in June's memory to the Shoals Marine Laboratory, G-14, Stimson Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, 14853, http://shoalsmarinelaboratory.com/ , or tothe Vermont Institute of Natural Science, P.O.
