Joseph L. Conn, 92, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Joe was born January 17, 1928 in Paterson, NJ the son of Metz and Madelin Cohn. He interrupted his college career at Colgate University to enlist in the US Navy as a Quartermaster on a minesweeper in Guam. He later graduated from Colgate and went on to receive his law degree from Columbia Law School.

Joe began his legal career working for Harry Nadell and later formed a partnership with Sanford Kluger. Joe dedicated a large part of his time working as City Counsel for the city of Paterson, NJ. Joe later joined his cousin Albert's firm Cohn & Lifland in Saddlebrook, NJ. The culmination of his legal career was his appointment to the New Jersey Superior Court in 1976 where he "judged" until his retirement in 1993.

Thereafter, Joe and his beloved Hilda fulfilled their dream of moving to the mountains and settled in Brownsville, Vt. Joe and Hilda quickly acclimated to mountain life and immersed themselves in their community by volunteering in many local charities and organizations.

Joe was an avid lover of dogs, nature, music and sports. He is survived by Hilda, his loving wife of 66 years, and their 4 children; Michael, Lisa (Jim), Abby (Paul), and Bill (Barbara) and their 7 grandchildren; Melissa (Brad), Brian, Andrew, Jake, Jesse, Steven (Sara), and Dylan.

The family will be holding private services.
