Taftsville, Vermont

Jeannette W. DeGrasse, 92, died Monday evening November 24th at the Springfield Hospital.

Jeannette was born on October 2, 1922 in Taftsviile, Vermont the daughter of Oscar F. and Bertha Elizabeth (Hoisington) Wood.

Jeannette graduated from Hartford High School in 1940. She married Alfred DeGrasse on August 30, 1942. She worked for Deweys Mill in Quechee and the R. Lewis Book Bindery in West Woodstock, but devoted herself to raising a family.

She enjoyed knitting clothing and making log cabin quilts for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting with both family and friends. In her younger years she enjoyed playing the piano.

Jeannette is survived by three sons, Robert of Ascutney, VT, Kenneth of Chelsea, VT, and Donald of Cannan, NH, three grandsons; Chris, Jeffrey, and Jeremy; a granddaughter, Tammie Stammers of Hartland, VT; six great grandchildren, and a sister Lucille Leadenham of Elyria, Ohio. She is predeceased by her husband Alfred, and a brother Warren Wood.

A graveside service will be held in the Taftsville Cemetery at a later date.
