Jean Marie
Tucker
March 6, 1936 – February 9, 2022
Woodstock, Vermont
Jean Marie Lamson Tucker, 85, went peacefully to be with Jesus on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Mertens House with her daughters by her side.
Jean was born on March 6, 1936 to Nelson Gile and Ruth Amanda (Spaulding) Lamson on the family farm in Royalton, VT. She was the youngest of 8 children. Several years later the family moved to South Pomfret, VT. She attended school in Pomfret and Woodstock graduating in 1954. On April 15, 1956 she married Fred Tucker. Together they built a house in Woodstock and raised 2 daughters.
She spent her early married life as a stay at home mom. She always loved being outdoors, but especially in warmer weather. We spent many happy summers picnicking at various state parks with family and friends. She enjoyed flower gardening and watching birds and wildlife. She loved animals and especially doted on her cats.
After Fred was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in the 70's she had to go to work. She worked part-time as an Artex paint demonstrator and a cashier at the P & C (now mac's). She eventually ended up getting a job at the Woodstock post office as a rural mail carrier – a career that lasted almost 22 years. She was a proud member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association.
Jean is survived by her 2 daughters, Heidi and Marie Tucker of Woodstock, her 101 year old sister, Helen Coburn of Surry, NH, sister-in-law, Eva Tucker of Vero Beach, FL and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
We want to thank the entire staff at Mertens House and the Bayada Hospice team who took care of Mom. We will forever remember how kind, compassionate and caring you all were to her and to us.
A graveside service will be held at the Prosper Cemetery in Woodstock on Saturday May 28th beginning at 2:pm
Donations in her memory can be made to Lucy MacKenzie Humane Society, PO Box 702, Brownsville, VT 05037 or an animal shelter of your choice.
Arrangements are by Cabot Funeral Home of Woodstock. An online guest book can be found at cabotfh.com.
