Jack Shirman, age 89, died peacefully after a short illness surrounded by family on Sunday, June 2, 2024 in the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Jack was born on October 20, 1934 in Leipzig, Germany, the son of Bernard and Sophie( Holzvorm) Shirman. After fleeing Nazi Germany, they emigrated to NYC where Jack grew up.

Jack started his career as an electrical engineer at Stromberg-Carlson in Rochester, New York and found his niche in telecommunications management after receiving his MBA at the Rochester Institute of technology. His job took him all over the world thus creating a wanderlust that would take him to over 100 countries, initially with his first wife, Natalie, and later on with his second wife Barbara. He was always happiest when traveling and experiencing new cultures.

Jack is survived by his wife Barbara Mack–Shirman of Naples, Florida, his children; Mark and his wife Beth of Sutton, Massachusetts, his daughter Laurie and her husband Greg of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and his daughter Brenda of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Sophie and his first wife Natalie.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 11 AM at Congregation Shir Shalom in Woodstock, Vermont, followed by a burial at the Riverside Cemetery in Woodstock Vermont. The family will receive friends at their home at 117 Underhill Lane in Quechee, Vermont following services.

In Lieu of flowers, those wishing can make memorial donations to the Congregation Shir Shalom in Woodstock Vermont.
