Obituary

Herbert John Tilton, Jr. (Jack) died Saturday, May 28, 2011 after a long illness. Jack was born on July 17, 1931 in Sandwich, NH, the son of Herbert and Eleanor (Davis) Tilton. He graduated from Meredith High School in 1949 and attended college in Boston, MA. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Air Force in Europe and Asia. He was as a member of the 506th Air Police Squad and was honorably discharged in 1954. He married Patricia Kelly in 1955 and they lived in New Hampshire until retiring to Woodstock, VT in 1995. They enjoyed trips to Maine and Canada and wandering the back roads of Vermont with their beloved dogs Mitzi and Lilli. Jack was perhaps happiest in his boat with his friend by his side and fish pole in his hand.
He was predeceased by his infant sister Sandra, his father Herbert J. Tilton, Sr., son Richard G. Tilton, mother Eleanor Gorman, and brother Charles Tilton. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Patricia of Woodstock, VT; two daughters, Tracey Tilton and her husband Jeff Davis of Newport, NH, and Pamela Tilton of Royalton VT; two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
