Georgina M. Williamson, died peacefully on November 15, 2011 at the home of her son in Clinton Corners, NY.



She was born on March 4, 1930 in Braehead, Lanarkshire Scotland the daughter of John and Jean (Barr) Macfie.



Georgina received her education at Ardrossan Academy in Ayrshire Scotland and was a graduate of Scottish School of Hotel Management. In addition she was a graduate of the Real Estate Institute, a Certified Residential Specialist, a CRB Designee, and a Professional Standards Instructor.



Georgina began her career in Woodstock as the co-manager of the White Cupboard Inn with her husband George. In 1971 she started her own real estate business specializing in country estates and village properties. In 1977 she became a representative for Sotheby's International Realty for the entire state of Vermont and became Georgina Williamson, Inc. After many successful years Georgina sold her business to two of her associates in 2003.



Georgina's professional appointments included; Windsor County Board of Realtors (secretary/treasurer 1981, vice president 1982, president 1983), Realtor of the Year Windsor County Board of Realtors 1984, Ambassador for CRB State of Vermont for three years commending in 1986, State Director VT Association of Realtors 1984, National Board of Sotheby's Realtors 1984, and represented many notable clients over the years such as Laurence S. Rockefeller and Michael J. Fox.



Georgina also helped with many civic organizations including; helping to start the League of Women Voters in Woodstock in 1961 serving as vice president for two years and president for three, she chaired the Woodstock Planning Commission from 1965 to 1972 and was instrumental in bringing about zoning in the town, the first woman in New England appointed by Gov. Hoff to the Connecticut River Flood Control Commission, was a delegate to the White House Conference on Natural Beauty with Lady Bird Johnson in 1966, served on the Pentangle Council of the Arts from 1978 to 1982, board member of the Connecticut River Watershed Council from 1972 to 1973, finance chair of the Congregational Church, Moderator for the Village of Woodstock in 1974, Trustee of Woodstock Country School from 1972 to 1978, trustee of Vermont Institute of Natural Science in 1984 helping to raise money to build the first Raptor Center in the United States, Chairperson of the Preservation of the Green Committee in 1985, an Overseer of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Memorial Hospital from 1995 to present, Overseer of Mt. Ascutney Hospital from 2005 to present, a member Advisory Committee of the Ottuaquechee Foundation, a cemetery commissioner for River Street Cemetery from 2005 to present, and secretary/treasurer for the New Country Club.



Georgina enjoyed tennis, paddle tennis, cross-country skiing, and swimming. Her favorite hobbies were; traveling, cooking, entertaining, gardening, A cappella singing groups, piano, Reading, Poetry, and reading.



She is survived by her daughter Janine Williamson Kanzler and her husband Michael Tsapakos and her two children Jamie and Mary, her son James J. Williamson and his wife Tresa Veitia and their daughter Emma, Her second late husband Orton's children; Victoria, Daniel, Orton, and Robert. She is pre deceased by her first husband George Williamson and her second husband Orton Hicks, JR.



A memorial service will be held on Sunday November 20th at 3:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Chapel in Woodstock, Vermont

Burial will be held privately in the River Street Cemetery.
