Gail E. McEwen, 66, died at her home on December 29, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gail was born on April 28, 1951 the daughter of Robert L. and Irene (Sawyer) Wood.

She graduated from Woodstock Union High School in 1970. She married Dennis McEwen on November 13, 1971 at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, VT. During high school Gail worked at the White Cottage in Woodstock. She went on to work for the Woodstock Inn Gift Shop, and the Woodstock National Bank before attending the Police Academy and going to work for the Hartford Police Department. Gail later went to work as a side Judge in Windsor County and worked for the WISE program.

Gail's greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She was always happiest when she was spending time with them on trips to the museums or just on a hike. She loved chaperoning on school field trips, and she spent every holiday with them.

In addition to her parents Gail is pre deceased by her husband Dennis McEwen and a brother Gilbert Henry Wood. She is survived by 2 brothers; Gary D. (Robin) Wood, and Gregory R. (Rhonda) Wood, a sister Gretchen M. Wood Grant, a sister-in-law Joni Wood, a stepson Bill (Joette) McEwen, 2 grandchildren; Alicia & Robbert McEwen, and her best friend and sister-in-law Joanne E. Wood, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held privately at a later date.
