Fred David "Smiley" Worth, 77, died at his home on Sunday February 18th in Bridgewater Center.
David was born on March 25, 1940 in Wilton, New York the son of Wilmont and Marjorie (Coon) Worth.
David was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Leahy during the Bay of Pigs invasion. He worked for the Rutland (VT) Plywood Company for a while before marrying Lorraine Webb on December 1, 1973 and settling in Bridgewater Center to eventually run the family farm. He also worked for 15 years at the Woodstock Inn and at the Shurtleff Farm for Rick Shurtleff.
David was a proud veteran and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed taking long drives, and was often found visiting with almost every person he met.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lorraine of Bridgewater Center, VT, a daughter Virginia Mickel of Hoosick Falls, NY, a son John D. Worth of Bridgewater, VT, a daughter Ann M. Worth of Randolph, VT, 8 grandchildren; Benjamin, Emily, Kaitlin, Jonathan, Damien, Lea, Nicholas, and Daniel as well as 2 great grandchildren, a sister Marie Zigo of Greenfield Center, NY, and a brother Jack Worth of Jacksonville, FL.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by 3 brothers; Wilmont, JR, Jim, and Richard.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Cabot Funeral Home on Friday evening February 23rd from 5pm to 7pm. A memorial service will be held at the Oak Chapel in Bridgewater Center on Saturday February 24th at 11:00am. Burial will be held at a later date.
