Frank J.
Romano
May 14, 1936 – November 8, 2019
Frank was born on May 14, 1936, and passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at his home in Woodstock, Vermont. Born in Newark, New Jersey, he moved to be near his family in Vermont when he was 18.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth, four children and four step-children: Victoria Polzello, Frank Romano Jr, Kimberly A. Wilkes, Celeste Chin, Kim Read, Linda Bove, Kenneth Puglisi, Frances Noval and their spouses, brother Tony Romano, 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce (Merrill), father Francisco, mother Lena (Garofano) and brother Robert.
Building a strong career at Howe Scale Company over 26 years, Frank ultimately became the vice president of operations for North America. He then founded his own successful consulting firm, FJR Enterprises, with clients across the country. For the past several years, Frank held a position as Professor of Business and Manufacturing Engineering at Vermont Technical College, merging his expertise in the industry with his passion for helping others and sharing knowledge.
An active member of the community, Frank was strongly dedicated to his church. He contributed his time and acumen to Our Lady of The Snows Shelter the Homeless Committee, served as treasurer and was head usher for many years. He also served for several years on the Board of the Woodstock Library.
As a man for all seasons, Frank's generous nature, gentle demeanor and sincere smile made all of those around him feel special. When given the jerseys of his grand children's schools, and his family's companies, he made sure they were as proud of their accomplishments as he was, by wearing them with great eagerness. He and Elizabeth never declined an invitation to a family or friend celebration, no matter the distance, and often opened their home to make everyone feel loved, appreciated and welcomed.
