Obituary

Quechee, Vermont

Emile William Grondin died January 23rd. Emile was born on June 29, 1935 in Stafford Springs, CT the son of Emile Wilfred and Lena (Houghton) Grondin.

A Graduate of St. John's Prep & American International College, Emile owned various businesses in CT and VT, most recently a real estate development company in Quechee, VT. Emile was a member of the Windsor County Board of Realtors, and was also elected to the office of town lister in Hartford.

Emile loved to garden, and had an affinity for growing tomatoes each spring and summer. He greatly enjoyed sitting with Ruth in their sunroom overlooking the grand western view of the Ottaquechee River valley while reading a good book. An only child, Emile took great pleasure being at home surrounded by any number of his and Ruth's nine children and fifteen grandchildren, all of whom benefited from his often humorous and always insightful counsel. "Off like a herd of turtles" remains firmly implanted in the family lexicon.

Emile is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Molinski Grondin, of Quechee, VT; nine children: Emile Grondin, Marathon Key, FL; William Grondin, South Windsor, CT; Mary Grondin and her husband Chris Mayer, Hartland, VT; Ann Asselin and her husband James, Springfield, MA; David Grondin and Debi DePasquale, Auburn, MA; Monique Grondin and her husband Frederick Thompson, Tacoma, WA; Richard Grondin and his wife Laura, West Hartford, CT; John Grondin, Marathon Key, FL; Anthony Grondin and his wife Caroline, San Diego, CA; 15 grandchildren; first cousin GlenAnn Knapp, her children Louis, Meg, Sarah and Glenn (deceased); and nieces & nephews.
