Bridgewater, Vermont
Edmund A. Sawyer, 83, died at his home on February 17, 2011. He was born on December 8, 1927 in Plymouth Vermont to Evan and Ella Mae Sawyer. He was one of eleven children. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Marines during World War II. On April 30th of 1948 he married Norma C. Longe.
He was a master mechanic and licensed electrician. He worked for Art Knudsen driving log trucks, at Harlan Booth's sawmill as a mill hand and for Earl and Robin Chapman of Barnard as a caretaker. He was best known for his years spent at the Bridgewater Woolen Mill as maintenance foreman.
He loved to be outdoors, hunting, fishing and later in his life just sitting on the patio watching the hummingbirds or on the back porch enjoying the sunshine. Everyone that knew him could attest to his master storytelling. Informing friends and family with stories from the past was one of his favorite things to do.
He leaves behind, his wife of 63 years, Norma, five children, Sandra Brown of Hartland, Lance Sawyer of Hartland, Deborah Fish of Bridgewater, Don Sawyer of Bridgewater and Deanne Carvalho of Bridgewater, 11 Grandchildren, 7 Great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, brothers, Robert, Donald, James, and sister's June, Zelda, Sandy and a step sister Patricia. He was predeceased by 2 brothers Richard and Paul and 1 stepsister Betty Lou.

Per his wishes no funeral services will be held. A private family gathering will be held later this spring.
