Douglas M.
Burcin
March 27, 1958 – November 14, 2021
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the death of Douglas Burcin. Doug died unexpectedly on November 14, 2021. He was deeply loved by his cherished family and his many, many friends. A devoted husband, father and son, Doug will be remembered for his loyalty, sense of humor, business prowess and love of the outdoors; particularly in the winter.
Doug was born in March of 1958 in the town of Lake Charles, Louisiana to Kay and Robert Burcin. The Burcin's lived in Turkey during Doug's early years and then relocated to New Jersey where Doug graduated from Madison High School in 1976. Doug went on to Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania where he graduated with a degree in biology in 1980.
Doug's acumen in biology and the life sciences greatly influenced his decision to pursue a career in healthcare marketing. He started his career with Havas Health. His 15 year-journey there took Doug from Director of Client Services all the way to Global CEO. Following his tenure at Havas Health, interested in the burgeoning fields of data science and clinical communications, Doug spent time at firms specializing in these areas.
It was on ski slopes with friends and family that Doug's heart was most full. In the 1980s, Doug was that blond-haired, blue-eyed, hard-skiing, hard-playing, mogul skier wearing the eye-popping ski fashions of the day. He met Kim Loftus, the love of his life, on the slopes of Killington, Vermont where in 1999 they built their mountain dream home. Kim and Doug's two beautiful children, Kayla and Kyle were on skis and snow as soon as they were upright. And he proudly (and loudly) cheered them on in every race and competition they faced. Doug and Kim were married for 31 years and raised their family for 22 years in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
Doug will be missed dearly and deeply. He leaves behind his parents, Kay and Robert Burcin, his wife Kim, his children Kyle and Kayla, as well as relatives and friends far and wide.
A funeral service will be held for dearest friends and family at Our Lady of the Snows in Woodstock Vermont on Saturday, November 20th. In lieu of flowers, Doug's family suggests donations be made to Killington World Cup Foundation https://www.kwcfgivesback.org/give or the Hitchcock Foundation https://www.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/hitchcock-foundation .
