Donald Elton Sawyer, 75, died peacefully at his home Friday morning November 21, 2014.
Donald was born on May 5, 1939 in Plymouth, Vermont the son of Evan H. and Ella Mae Chowen Sawyer.
Donald serviced in the United States Army, 20th Armored Division at Fort Hood Texas from January 1963 to December 1964 and was in the Army reserved in White River Jct., VT from January 1965 until December 1968. After his service in the Army Donald began a 30 plus year career working for A & B Motors in Woodstock, Vermont as an auto mechanic and parts manager.
Donald enjoyed gardening, flowers, hunting, fishing, traveling, his camp on Lake Champlain, and watching and feeding the birds, and his cat smokey
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Katherine A. (McBain) Sawyer of Woodstock, VT, 2 brothers Robert and James, and 2 sisters June Waters and Sandy Lynds all of Bridgewater, VT. In addition to his parents he is pre deceased by 3 brothers, Richard, Edmund, and Paul and a sister Zelda Oldenburg.
A memorial service will be held at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock on Friday November 28th at 1:00pm with Joan Tarleton officiating. Burial will be in the Plymouth Notch Cemetery.
