Pomfret, Vermont
Dennis F. Potter, 64, died Tuesday November 1st at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center following a courageous battle with Lung cancer.
Dennis was born March 3, 1943 in Randolph, Vermont. He married Linda Marie Doyle on April 19, 1969 and soon after began his service in the United States Army in Vietnam.
After returning from the war, Dennis settled in Pomfret and worked in the local area as a truck driver. He was the Pomfret Road Commissioner for many years. During the past 11 years he worked in Etna, NH as a property manager.
Dennis was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, sugaring, and working in his gardens. He was a smart and clever man who enjoyed puzzles and crosswords. He was an avid horseshoe player and belonged to the Sharon Horseshoe League. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and taking his wife for evening rides around the beautiful hills of Etna.
Dennis is survived by his wife Linda of Pomfret, VT & Etna, NH, his sons; Dennis R. of Hartland and James E. of Pomfret, his daughter Katie L. Collins of So. Royalton, his 5 grandchildren; Austin, Zachary, and Patrick Potter, and Grace and Hannah Collins, and his sister Sheila Murray of Pomfret. Dennis is pre deceased by his parents Raymond and Esther (Morrill) Potter and a brother Wayne.
A funeral service will be held on Monday November 7th at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph with burial and military honors to follow. There will be no calling hours.
