Obituary

Cindy Cook, of Woodstock, VT, died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 22, 2025, surrounded by family.

Cindy was born on October 21, 1946, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Educated at American University in Paris and George Washington University in Washington, DC, she earned a Bachelor's degree in history and education. She later earned a Master's degree in adult education from UMass Boston.

Cindy became a member of North Parish Unitarian Church in North Andover, MA in 1986 and was actively and generously involved in many ways for over 34 years. As a long-time book group member and small group ministry leader, she formed many lasting friendships. Cindy proudly served on the board of Lawrence CommunityWorks in Lawrence, MA, and treasured the connections she made.

A passionate educator of adults learning English, Cindy eagerly pursued learning Spanish through classes and cultural immersion in the U.S., Guatemala, Mexico, and Spain. She was an activist and fierce defender of immigrant rights.

Cindy and her husband, Dave Cook, moved to Woodstock, VT, from Andover, MA, in October of 2020 to be closer to family. She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Dave Cook; daughters Sarah Cook of Cavendish, VT and Elizabeth Cook of Corpus Christi, TX; sons-in-law Eric Krasnauskas and Dale Pattison; grandchildren Grant and Briar Krasnauskas; sister Pat Haith (Mike) and brother Dan Miller (Cindy) and many cousins, nephews and nieces, and Simone, her beloved cat.

Cindy loved to dance salsa and bachata in the kitchen, cook from the heart, host memorable parties, and sneak a groan-worthy pun into every conversation. She engaged easily with strangers; their first reaction would be to smile. Her legacy is one of great love; may her memory be a blessing.

Donations in Cindy's honor can be made to Lawrence CommunityWorks, Inc., The North Parish of North Andover Unitarian Universalist Church, or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.

A memorial service will be held on September 27th, 2025. Details will be announced at a later date.
