A memorial service for Claude W. "Cal" Callaham, 97 who died Sunday morning February 21, 2016 at the Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, Vermont will be held at the First Congregational Church, UCC in Hartland (three corners) VT on March 19th at 2:00pm. Burial will be held privately.

He was born August 31, 1918 at Appomattox, VA , a son of Rev. Leslie F. and Nora Bell (Murray) Callaham, now deceased.

Cal attended Virginia public schools, after which he graduated from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA with a BA degree. After which he then taught English at a boys Military Academy in Front royal, VA.

Mr. Callaham served in World War II with the Army's 48th Brigade as Aide-De-Camp to General William Hesketh until Armistice was declared, left the service, promoted to Captain with honorable discharge.
Cal, while on active duty met and married Betsy Jane Jones in Boston, MA.

Cal and family settled in Winchester, MA and started his business career as asst. to General manager, Atlantic Gelatin, General Foods Corp, Woburn, MA promoted to purchasing and material manager, retiring in 1984 and moved to Cape Cod, MA

Cal and Betsy in 1996 moved to Woodstock, VT where he joined the Woodstock Rotary Club, the American Legion Post #24 in Woodstock, and became and active volunteer at the Thompson Senior Center.

Cal was predeceased by his wife Betsy in 2003, and before that four brothers and one sister.

Cal is survived by two daughters; Candee Christoforides and Hans Meijer of Barnard, VT, and Betsy Honig and her husband Dr. Richard Honig of West Stockbridge, MA, five adult grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
