Catherine S. Holt passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, at the Vermont Veteran's Home in Bennington, VT. Catherine and her husband, Floyd, of 64 years have been living at The Home since July of this year.
Catherine Mary Soule was born in Barnard, VT, on November 28, 1928, 10th child of William Jackson and Gladys (Gardner) Soule. She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1946. She was married to Floyd S. Holt, jr. in August 1947. They made their home in Woodstock and raised four children.
Catherine enjoyed a long career at the Woodstock Inn and Resort moving to the new facility in 1969. She was named Employee of the Year in 1989. Upon retirement she was maitre'd of the main dining room and she was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Her quick smile and excellent sense of humor will be missed by her family and her many friends. She enjoyed traveling, reading, swimming, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd, and her four children, Cynthia of Los Osos, CA, Marilyn and Marsha, of Woodstock, F. Steven of Martha's Vineyard, one brother, Raymond, of Rhode Island, four grandchildren, Renee', Natasha, Jacob, Christopher, one great-grandson, Geoffrey, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and four brothers, Edmund, Frank, Charlie, William (Tony) and four sisters, Alice, Marion, Gertrude, Dorothy.

A memorial visitation will be held, Sunday, August 21, at 3 – 4:30 PM at Cabot Funeral Home. A gathering for food and reminiscence at Catherine and Floyd's home, 1613 West Woodstock Road will follow.
