Weld, Maine
Beverly G. Stoddard, 80, died at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH Friday morning September 2, 2011.
Beverly was born on North Road in Sydney, Maine on April 1, 1931. She spent her teen years working very hard both at school and at jobs in the local area. On December 21, 1949 she married Robert Daniel Stoddard. Together they moved to Tennessee and Beverly helped support her husband for four years while he obtained his degree in Optometry.
In 1952 Beverly and her husband returned to Maine living in Wilton where they raised their two daughters. Beverly worked at the University of Maine at Farmington in the athletic department; a job she enjoyed for 25 years.
Following their retirement Beverly and Robert spent summers in Weld, Maine and winters in Ft. Myers, Florida. The family's summer home of 50 years was always the anchor for Beverly and Bob, their two daughters, and their five grandsons. Three years ago Beverly began spending some of her time in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Beverly will be remembered by her family as a gentle, loving person; devoted to her daughters and grandchildren. She was strong in character, resilient, and determined; one who persevered in difficult times.
She enjoyed family gatherings, holidays with the family, watching her children and grandchildren in all of their activities, caring for the dogs, baking and playing bridge. She relaxed in the environs of Webb Lake; reveling in its sunsets and the call of the loons.
Beverly is survived by her two daughters; Deborah Scott and her husband Forrest of Bridgewater, VT, and Pamela Franco and her husband David of Cheshire, CT, her five grandchildren; Zachary and Nicholas Scott, Adam, Andrew, and Samuel Franco, one great grandchild Katharine born to Zachary and Michelle on August 31, 2011 and three sisters. She is predeceased by her mother, Vera Geroux, her husband, Dr. Robert Daniel Stoddard, and her brother, William Keene.
