Betty Lou Smith, 90, formerly of Woodstock, Vermont died peacefully January 4th at her daughter's home in Missouri.

She was born on May 8, 1921 in Washington, DC the daughter of Wallace C, and Ada (Churchill) Mendenhall.

She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1939. She worked for 5 years at the Jordan Marsh Company in Boston, MA and 19 years at the New England Telephone Co. as an operator. Following the death of her parents she moved back to Woodstock, VT. She moved to Albany, MO in 2009 to be near her daughter.

Betty Lou is survived by 5 children; Deborah Lou Stevens (Larry), Albany, MO, Joan Ada Scott of Stoneham, MA, Jonathan Mark Gregory Smith (Suzanne) of Randolph, MA, Susan Leslie Smith, White River Jct., VT, and Diana Hill Smith of Boston, MA, 4 grandchildren; Bradley Russell Stevens, Blake Martin Stevens, James Matthew Jordan Smith, and Dionne Roberts, and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is pre deceased by a daughter, Sandra Harley Smith, a granddaughter, Jessica Lou Stevens, and her husband John L. Smith

A visitation will be held on Sunday January 8th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock.. A funeral service will be held on Monday Jan. 9th at 10:00 am also at the funeral home.
