Obituary

Barbara (Bailey) Squires, 90, passed away quietly on Friday June 2nd with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Born on January 3, 1933 in Cornwall, CT to Sherman B. and Mae (Morrison) Bailey, she moved to Woodstock a few years later and grew up on The Star Farm with an older sister and three older brothers. Growing up on a farm, she was surrounded by animals but was particularly fond of her two horses; Indy and Maysie; who carried her on numerous 100-mile trail rides. She met her husband; Vincent Squires; while attending Woodstock Union High School graduating in 1951 and getting married later that same year.

Barb moved around a lot spending time in Boston, MA., Norfolk, VA., Los Angles, CA., Forestdale, Barre, and Northfield, VT. In 1990, Barb became a snowbird, spending summers in Rochester VT and winters in Sebring FL with her companion Robert (Bob) Sleath. She moved to Sebring full time in the early 2000s and returned to New England in 2021 to Nashua, NH to be closer to her family.

Barbara's career was spent as a secretary / administrative assistant for numerous companies including Rock of Ages Corporation and eventually retiring as Assistant to the President of Norwich University in 1990. Barb puttered in her flower gardens, was an avid knitter, and thoroughly enjoyed playing games with family and friends. Her favorites included Yahtzee, Scrabble, and multiple card games, especially cribbage. Always an enthusiastic reader, Barb volunteered at the Sebring Public Library and was active in the St John Methodist Church in Sebring. Barb took up golf in the late 1970s and it quickly became her passion until she was physically unable to play in 2020 but she never stopped watching the pros on TV.

Barb was predeceased by her parents, her siblings; Martha Maxham, Raymond (Ray) Bailey, Richard (Dick) Bailey, James (Jim) Bailey; her husband Vince Squires, and her companion Bob Sleath. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Mary Squires, her three grand-daughters; Monica (Matt) Wilson, Andrea (Ken) Caruncho, and Rebecca Squires; and two great grand-children; Lilly Caruncho and Galen Wilson

At Barb's request, there will be a grave side service for family members at Prosper Cemetery at a later date.
