Ludlow, Vermont

Barbara "Bambi" A. Murray, 85, died Friday June 22, 2018 at the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow, Vermont. There she received excellent care and friendship.

Born March 8, 1933 in Perkinsville, Vermont the daughter of Charles and Betty (Goodale) Murray, Bambi lived her entire life in the state she loved, Vermont. She worked more than 20 years delivering newspapers for the Rutland Herald and the Valley News along with her faithful dog companion. Bambi never missed a delivery due to inclement weather, and was often invited into the homes of several recipients along her route. She was a hard working person that one could rely on and was true to her word.

After leaving the newspaper, Bambi went to work for the Visiting Nurses, assisting home-bound seniors with the personal care for several years before retiring. Wherever Bambi went, she brought joy and laughter into the lives of people who otherwise might be alone. Bob McCollum and his former wife Connie from Reading were long time friends of Bambi, and Bob continued to be there for her for many years to follow.

Bambi was a volunteer for VT Volunteer Services for Animals Humane Society for many decades, and was always willing to help when needed. She recalled unloading and distributing a tractor trailer loaded with kitty litter at the Bridgewater Marketplace where she helped with this give-away. She adored her companion cats and dogs and rescued more than one dog from abusive situations, welcoming them into her home and her heart.

Survived by friends and companions, both persons and animals alike, Bambi is pre- deceased by her parents and a brother, Bruce Murray.

Bambi will be remembered at the 9:00am Mass at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Woodstock on Friday June 29, 2018. All are invited to attend.
