STATESVILLE, NC – Audrey Janet Powell, 94 died April 21, 2015. Most recently she was a resident of Autumn Care of Statesville.

Ms. Powell was born in Manhattan, NY on September 25, 1920 to the late Minna and Tom DeGiacomo. She grew up in Roosevelt and Freeport on Long Island, NY. She graduated from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY in 1941 and began a career in education. She retired as a Principal in the Levittown School District in Long Island, NY in July 1977. She was predeceased by her brother, Wallace DeGiacomo of Barnard, VT in 2002.

Ms. Powell had been married to Theodore Powell for 55 years when he predeceased her in 2004. For most of their married life they resided in Wantagh, NY before moving to Lady Lake , Florida in 1990. In 2004, they moved to Hickory, NC and were residents of Pinecrest in Hickory. In 2013, Ms. Powell moved to Autumn Care in Statesville, NC. From the early 1950's through 2004 they maintained a vacation home in Barnard, VT which brought them many special times with family and friends.

Surviving Ms. Powell are a niece, Donna Langlois of Florida, a nephew Jack DeGiacomo of Florida and Colorado, a nephew, Tom DeGiacomo of Barnard, VT., a great niece, Angela Walker of Colorado and her sister- in- law, Lillian DeGiacomo of Cavendish, VT .

A graveside service will be held on June 17, 2015 at the Silver Lake Cemetery in Barnard, Vermont at 10:00am.
